In most cases referrals will be made by an agency professional. However, single parents are welcome to submit an application for themselves via this website.
In order to be eligible for a grant, applicants must demonstrate a history of self-sufficiency and be able to show that, with the award of a financial grant by Single Parents Empowered, they will be able to maintain their stability.
The Ideal Applicant: *living independently *be employed full time (35-40 hours a week) *have custody of their children *have little or no reliance on public assistance
Examples of Grants May Include: *deposit for housing *assistance with rent/deposit *funds for special clothing or equipment for employment *temporary child-care expenses *car repair if appropriate *assistance with utility bill
Applications can be filled out online application and submit by email or by obtaining a hard copy application and mailed.
After the application is received by Single Parents Empowered, the applicant will receive a call from a member of the Application Committee who will do a short interview. The professional who referred the applicant may also receive a call.
If the applicant is approved by the Application Committee, a check will be issued to the appropriate party.
